2009 – US deflation or global salvation?

Some investors are concerned that economic weakness in 2009 could underpin structural deflation in the US economy. Matthew Sherwood, Perpetual’s Senior Manager, Investment Markets Research finds that while this risk remains very low, the US and global economies are unlikely to recover until late 2009 and in this environment stocks with high earnings certainty and strong balance sheets should find favour with risk-averse investors. - December 2008
